Strolling through Singapore
I spent less than 24 hours in Singapore the last time I was there but I still have dreams about going back. The streets, the architecture, the food. Strolling through Singapore is now my favorite memory.
Bugis
I stayed in the Bugis neighborhood and started my walking tour heading towards Fort Canning Park. I am a huge sucker for parks! We decided to eat at a place in the park called the Fabulous Baker Boy. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and I swear, I have never had any better. It may have had to do with the fact that it was the first real meal we had had in a couple days but these pancakes were unreal.
Merlion
After the greatest breakfast I've ever had we walked back through the park headed towards the Merlion. 1/2 mermaid 1/2 lion ;P
Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands
Since we were headed towards the Marina Bay Sands, we decided to stop at the Mall, since I brought the wrong shoes and already had blisters on my heels. The Mall is incredible, with one portion having a river built into it that you can take Gondola rides on. But thanks to Zara I was able to replace my shoes and carry on!
Marina Bay Sands
The Marina Bay Sands is more mind blowing when you see it in person. The magnitude alone is impressive until you realize it looks like a curved boat on stilts and therefore shouldn't exist...but it does and is glorious.
Gardens By the Bay
The real highlight of the whole trip and motivation for putting Singapore on my whirlwind South East Asia trip was the Gardens by the Bay. Think of the Gardens by the Bay as an amusement park for plants :) The parks goal is to bring awareness to ecosystems around the world that are being threatened by both climate change and over-foresting. There is nothing quite like it in the world.
Makansutra Gluttons Bay and Singapore Architecture
I found Glutton bay while I was searching through google maps and it sounded like the perfect place for an afternoon snack! Its an outdoor food market offering the 'best of Singapore.' There are many restaurants, bars and shoppes all around Gluttons bay for all your needs; a great place to spend your evening!
Serangoon Road
Serangoon Road is known for the district of Little India. Its a colorful street with the open-air Tekka Centre, to numerous shoppes, to the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple. I only had the chance to drive through it (during rush hour whoops!) on my way to the airport, but I still suggest making this cultural center an item on your to-do list!
